The gallery is proud to once again host Artists In Action in their annual Paint The Town art show. The showing featured “en plein air” paintings created during the Spring and Summer at select paint our locations around the Salem area. The show will open on First Wednesday, October 4th from 5-9 PM with a special Awards presentation at 7:30. The show will also feature the Mid-Valley Poetry Society in a coordinating show called Write the Town. A separate poetry reading will be held by group members on Oct. 7th in the gallery from 3-5 pm. Artists in Action celebrate the summer tradition of “en plein air” — the act of painting outdoors — by picking more than 20 picturesque sites in the mid-Willamette Valley to inspire artists, writers and photographers. This year’s selected sites include the World Beat Festival, the rose garden at Bush’s Pasture Park, Redhawk Vineyard & Winery, Gaiety Hollow and Minto Island Growers.Members of the public are invited to watch the artists as they work.AiA board member Diane Trevett said the mission of the event is to raise awareness of the arts and artists in Salem area.
