Artist Biography:

Pauli Bailey studied fine art and textile design at UC Davis graduating with a BS in Textile Design. She studied Plein Aire painting with Camille Prezewodek, a colorist, landscape with Gregory Kondos, and Carole Watanabe.

As Director of Operations for Art Works Downtown in San Rafael, CA Pauli learned art business while pursuing painting on her own.
“200 Offerings for Peace” broke through for Pauli. Her desire to raise funds for education for girls in Afghanistan resonated with many. 200 became 500+ and the piece was widely exhibited.
After years of too much smoke fire and drought, she and her husband moved to Silverton. The barns of the area are poignant inspiration.

Artist Statement:

My name is Pauli Bailey. I’m a painter. I see paintings in every landscape. I always have. My life has taken me to many places. Most recently my husband and I moved to Silverton, Oregon in search of rain.
Scores of barns line these country roads. The hip roof, the gambrel the gable are all part of the heritage of the people who built them. They moved here with dreams and they created homes. I suppose as a newcomer I’m searching for my own home.

By painting the barns, I hope I can encourage you to notice them. I work in acrylic. It’s fast like time. Some of what I see and feel is here on the canvases.
Do you hear the barn stories as you roam? I hope you see a Hero’s barn or feel the loneliness of yesterday’s dreams.
