Alan is a native Oregonian, realizing from the second grade that his path would involve art.  His travels across the United States as well as Asia Minor, Israel and Europe, confirmed his appreciation of the strikingly contrasting natural beauty of his home state.

After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art from Portland State University, Alan completed a commercial career in Design/Advertising/ Marketing in the high-tech electronics industry. Here, he explored diverse genres of fine art as an avocation. This background refined his illustrative skill and artistic technique.

Alan now produces contemporary fine art from his studio on the beautiful central Oregon Coast. The work ranges from traditional landscapes and floral images to science fiction and nature/wildlife scenes.  Each piece represents a complete story, even though in still-frame. His work has been represented locally by the Freed Gallery and online at Nothern Star Art, inc.

Art is appreciated visually-intuitively…A special connection is made, if for no other reason that the viewers “knows what they like.” It’s a form of visual music in which the artist’s approach to line, form, color, value and texture becomes a unique expression, generating a certain “magic.”   Each artist has their own personal approach, style, balance and touch- a unique and powerful form of inspiration.
