The Art of Football – Scissor Kick Poster Print by Glen Green -19. 75 x 23. 5

Glen Green was born in North Vancouver where he has continued to live and work with his family. Glen is a self taught artist who enjoys painting landscapes and wildlife but seems to be always drawn back to people, specifically sports personalities. These works are often called “Sportraits.” In actual fact, the paintings vary from people in action to mood paintings. Glen has a true feel for his sports works, in that he has participated in numerous sports in the past and continues to do so today. With Glen’s style of painting having knowledge of each sport is important, from the movements they make to the equipment they wear.

His paintings are always accurately and skillfully rendered.  Most of Glen’s paintings consist of a loose wash background which lends itself to sports images. It gives a feeling of motion and action. It also makes for a nice mixture of contemporary painting and realism. Glen’s images have been sold worldwide. His subject matter has varied from Michael Jordan to Joe Montana, Bobby Orr to Wayne Gretzky, and Mike Weir to Bob Hope.  He has been commissioned by corporations such as, The Vancouver Canucks, the B.C. Lions, The Bradford Exchange, Molson Breweries, and Coca Cola among others.glenngreen

Glen was commissioned by The Royal Canadian Mint to design twelve Canadian circulation quarters featuring ten Olympic and two Paralympics sports. These coins were released in the three years leading up to the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver/Whistler. There are 22 million of each coin totaling 264 million in circulation today.
